17h Flowers and glass or Karolína in the box
Karolina is not a newcomer to Czech floristry - she has won the title of Czech Republic Champion twice and has repeatedly become Vice-Champion at the national level. Her talent has also shone on the international stage, where she became the second runner-up in the Visegrad Cup, a competition that brings together the best florists from the Central European region.
In addition to her competition successes, Karolina is also a renowned floristry lecturer and is passing on her passion and knowledge to the next generation of florists. She has also proven her expertise as a jury member at floristry competitions, where she evaluates the works of other artists with care and sensitivity.
At the World Cup of Floral Art in The Hague, Netherlands, she will compete against the best florists from all over the world to show what Czech floristry can do. This competition is not only about technique, but also about art and innovation. Karolina will have to master a number of challenges and create arrangements that will dazzle the jury with their originality, precision and aesthetics. We cannot reveal more than that Karolina prepared the arrangement in cooperation with the Glassworks Jílek.
In the heart of Kamenický Šenov, a town with a rich glassmaking tradition, is the Jílek Glassworks, which has been continuing the legacy of Czech glassmaking since 1905. This traditional glassworks specialises in blown utility and decorative glass, especially in lead-free crystal.
The Jílek Glassworks is proof that honest handicraft still has a firm place today - not only at home, but also in the world. Its products travel to many countries where they represent the quality and tradition of Czech glass.
Among other things, the glassworks is actively involved in the life of the town and helps to improve it. It runs the Lusk café, which can be found opposite the local Glass Museum, and the Second Dormitory in a historic carriage at the train station. It offers guided tours of the glassworks, during which visitors can see the production process and admire the glassmaking craft first-hand.
Thanks to all this, Kamenický Šenov is becoming not only a town of tradition, but also a lively contemporary glassmaking industry that has something to offer in the 21st century.
