Vernissage - Jan Schindler - Small Engraving Delicacies

We would like to invite you to the opening of the exhibition Small Engraving Delicacies by Jan Schindler, which will take place in the North Bohemian Museum on Wednesday 19 June at 6 pm. The exhibition includes the artist's school works from the Secondary School of Glass Arts in Železný Brod, as well as commercial works created between 1995-2019.

Jan Schindler (born in 1971), a native of Turnov, has been working in the world of engraved glass from 1992 to the present. He is also a teacher in Železný Brod.

In his free work he uses commonly available utility glass, preferably drinking glass. He does not shy away from objects with manufacturing defects, to which his intervention breathes a second life. The author does not consider these engraved objects to be untouchable works of art, but instead approaches them with rational civility.

The artist's aim is to rehabilitate the technique of engraving on glass in competition with the industrial techniques of sandblasting and etching.

Curator of the exhibition.

You will also be able to visit the exhibition Tiny Engraving Delicacies as part of the Liberec Glass Festival Crystal Valley Week 2024. North Bohemia Museum, 30 August 2024.
