Workshop in the Botanical Garden with Marcela Růžičková.

Come and have a look and try your hand at working over the stove. Today with Marcela Růžičková to the Botanical Garden as part of the Flowers of Fire exhibition.

And what else can you see?

A selection of the best of what the Crystal Valley and its glassmakers have created over the fire of the glassblowing cauldron.

Against the backdrop of the Botanic Garden's greenhouses, a variety of nature-inspired glass objects, created using traditional techniques over the flame, will come to life. This technique, with deep roots in northern Bohemia, transforms glass sticks into tiny works of art. Each object is the result of concentrated work, craftsmanship and a sensitive relationship with the material and nature.

The selected artists continue this rich tradition while pushing it in new directions. In their work we find delicate flowers, fantastic plant formations, small and more monumental animals, beads and jewellery, as well as experimental forms inspired by the micro-world or marine organisms. Each of the artists approaches glass in a distinctive way, with their own artistic language, yet all are united by a deep respect for the craft of glassmaking and inspiration from the natural world.
