When Glass Comes to Life

How is an animated film made? Come find out at the "Animated Stories" workshop, which we’re organizing for you for the third time as part of Crystal Valley Week. This year, there’s even a contest!

During the animation workshop, you can explore the principles of animation, from simple optical illusions to creating your own short stop-motion animation. You’ll learn the basics of animation techniques and put them into practice at unique animation stations, such as a multiplane or lightbox.

Individually or in teams, you’ll create short animated sequences or simple stories inspired by the world of glass. The workshop fosters creativity and collaboration, and in a playful way shows how to bring both images and imagination to life. The workshop has been prepared for you by OPAK Studio.

Come experience the magic of animation and create your own short stop-motion teaser during the animation workshop, which will take place on Tuesday, August 25, and Wednesday, August 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day, during the Crystal Valley Week 2026 festival.

What story does glass tell? How does it move, change, or shine? That’s up to your imagination.

At unique animation stations, you can get hands-on experience with how an animated film is made, experiment with movement, light, and imagery, and transform ordinary glass objects into a living story.

We’re holding a competition in two categories:

• children up to 12 years old

• teens and adults aged 13 and older

You can create your animation on your own or as a team right at the workshop. Professional instructors from OPAK Studio will be on hand to help you develop and bring your idea to life.

The jury will select the most creative animations, judging them primarily on originality, playfulness, and overall impression. We will award prizes for the best entries, and the winning animation may be used as the official theme song for the next edition of Crystal Valley Week!
