During this year’s Crystal Valley Week, Novotný Glass will unveil its new original collection of vases, ‘Gravity’. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the limited edition series for the very first time at an exhibition in the foyer of the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec from 24 to 29 August 2026.

The new Gravity Collection, designed by glass artist Ondřej Novotný, draws on a fascination with the natural forces that shape the material. The inspiration came from the moment when molten glass moves and reacts to gravity during production. It is precisely this natural process that forms the basis of the entire collection.

Under the motto ‘Guided by gravity, shaped by will’, objects are created in which part of the creative process is left to the forces of gravity. The artist then intervenes with subtle adjustments that determine the final character of each piece. As a result, every vase is unique and bears the irreplaceable mark of the moment of its creation.

Exclusive preview ahead of the launch

The Gravity collection will be unveiled to the public for the very first time during Crystal Valley Week 2026. Visitors will thus have a unique opportunity to view the new vases even before their official launch, which is scheduled for September 2026 at the Novotný Glass high-street shop and online store.

The programme will also include a personal meeting with the artist. On Saturday 29 August 2026, from 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm, Ondřej Novotný will be present at the exhibition to tell visitors about the creation of the collection, his glasswork and the history of the family glassworks.

The Work of Two Generations of Glassmakers

The Novotný Glass exhibition in the foyer of the F. X. Šalda Theatre will showcase the work of two generations of a prominent glassmaking family. Alongside a selection of original works by the legendary glassmaker Petr Novotný, it will also feature contemporary pieces by his son Ondřej Novotný, including the new limited-edition Gravity collection.

The exhibition will thus offer visitors a unique insight into the continuity of the Czech glassmaking craft, the passing on of expertise between generations, and the fusion of traditional glassmaking techniques with a contemporary design approach.
